11/24/07
Today we finally received the engine and transmission. What you’re looking at is a 5.0 HO engine and an AOD transmission. In addition to mocking up the engine mounts and transmission we put back on the doors and fenders. We should be welding in the engine soon.
11/22/07 Update
Here is a Thanks Giving Day update. The car is entirely primered and the ground effects kit from MustangsPlus.com has arrived. The engine (5.0 w/ EFI and AOD transmission) should be arriving this Saturday. You can see in the pictures that the rear seat is gone and in its place is a storage box crafted from plywood. The rear taillights have been filled in, and soon we should have a Pony shaped taillight put in their place once we get the C&C work done. We have also put in the new 22 gallon gas tank. We should be doing the engine mounts soon as well and after that paint will be forthcoming.
Other projects are coming along as well as you can see in some of the other shots.

Bondo and Body Work
Students at work
I just wanted to post this blog to show that there are various other cars being used in this class besides the 64 1/2 Mustang. Each student can bring in their own car and work on it, or assist another student with their project. I’ll try to get more details on others projects and goals in a later post.
Update
Sorry for the delay, we did not have much of an opportunity to get new pictures until this weekend. The engine has finally been pulled from the car. We have selected the seats that will replace the original mustang seats and have determined where they will sit in the car. They will eventually be reupholstered further along into the project. One of the door handles has been shaved and we are currently filling it in and smoothing it out. Another project being worked on is filling in the front vents. Since we will be going to a Vintage Air system they will no longer be needed and this will eliminate one are of potential areas water can leak into.
Back to work
Not a huge update, but here are some updates. The carpeting has been removed, along with gauges and the dash pad. There is some rust on the floor boards that needs to be cleaned up and possibly patched. We are trying to figure out new seats for the car and are doing mockups of fits, we still are not close to a solution. We are removing a lot of the grime the last 40 years have left on the car. Additionally the radiator has been removed and we’ve cut room to put in a larger one in the near future. The engine may be pulled by next week.
And so it begins…
The class is finally underway and progress is quickly being made. The car has had its fenders, doors, hood, trunk removed, along with all of the seats taken out. The engine will also been pulled, but no pictures of that yet. Update soon…
